About Emily Black

Marigold

I’m an artist creating joyful, nature-inspired art prints using my hand-drawn illustrations. My work is rooted in a love of pattern, texture, and the small details that often go unnoticed, those magical moments in nature that bring a sense of wonder and inspiration.

Originally from England, my connection to the outdoors began in the gardens and countryside of my childhood. Since then, that love has followed me around the world. From living in San Francisco to now being based in Boston. Wherever I go, I find myself drawn to the shapes, rhythms, and organic patterns found in nature, whether it’s the softness of the British landscape or the bold, sun-soaked tones of the Arizona desert during my travels.

My creative process begins with hand-drawn black and white illustrations, focusing on capturing texture, form, and intricate detail. I then digitally layer in color and pattern, bringing each piece to life with a playful, expressive feel. This balance between structured line work and more fluid, colorful elements reflects both my background and my personal style.

I have a diploma in Interior Design and a degree in Textile Design, both of which continue to shape my work. My designs are created with scale, color harmony, and composition in mind, so they not only stand alone as artwork but also sit beautifully within a space. I’m especially inspired by the use of print and color in both interiors and fashion, blending these influences into pieces that feel modern, characterful, and full of personality.

Each print is designed with the intention of bringing warmth, charm, and a joyful connection to nature into your home. Whether styled in a minimal space or layered into a more eclectic, boho interior, my goal is to create artwork that feels both uplifting and timeless.
